Canberra Veterinary Dermatology is focussed on providing up to date, evidence based, tailored care for pets with skin, ear and allergy conditions. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with referring veterinarians, helping maintain patient care standards and excellent client service.

We offer a range of services including video-otoscopy, allergy testing and immunotherapy, second-opinion dermatology consultations and vet to vet teleconsultation case advice.

Collaborative Care Can Improve Patient Outcomes and is Good For Both Clients And Referring Vets.

Referral Service

When to Consider Referral

  • Chronic, severe or recurrent otitis externa or otitis media

  • Skin cases not responding to standard treatment protocols within 2-3 visits

  • Complex, severe or recurrent dermatological conditions including allergic skin disease and immune-mediated skin disease

  • Clients expressing frustration or concern about treatment progress

  • Allergy testing and immunotherapy - particularly beneficial for young dogs with atopic dermatitis or otitis, and cats with feline atopic skin syndrome.

  • Video-otoscopy - therapeutic deep ear flushes and and exploration/evaluation of the ear canal

  • Supported Elimination diet trial

Dr Gill is alway happy to have a short discussion about cases, or to discuss if a hands-on referral would benefit your patient and client. (no charge < 5min)

For a 20-minute tele-consultation with Dr Gillian please e-mail the patient history and any test results to info@canvetderm.com.au, along with a short description of what you and your client need advice on.

Please provide your best contact details and available times for teleconsultation and we will get back to you to confirm a time.

Teleconsultations available weekdays except Thursdays. Consultation fee applies.

Note: There are limitations to the advice that can be given without seeing a patient first-hand. The primary-care veterinarian retains complete responsibility for the case, and the primary-care veterinarian decides if professional advice given remotely by Canberra Veterinary Dermatology is suitable for their patient.

  • Once you have e-mailed your case history and consultation request, we will confirm a time and your preferred platform (ie. phone, zoom, teams, google meet) and request electronic consultation fee payment to secure your booking. Payment is required as Dr Gillian will allocate time to review the case prior to the appointment time. She will also an e-mail consultation notes to you after the appointment.
